NFL WEEK 14 Thursday Night Football

Houston Texans at Jacksonville Jaguars

Houston Texans at Jacksonville Jaguars

Houston just about nearly almost edged New England last week on home turf.  They’re on the road tonight in balmy Jacksonville to meet the hapless Jaguars.  Both these teams are scraping the bottom of the AFC South.  Technically I suppose Jacksonville is scraping Houston who are scraping the bottom of the AFC South.  Jacksonville beat Houston 2 weeks ago so the question is really …can they beat them again?  There is no evidence anywhere that either of these two can actually beat the other.  I’m taking Houston because overall they’ve scored more and let in less…. But it’s really an either or situation. It’s like deciding to do one thing over another because you’ll catch less shit than if you did the other … thing.

NFL Week 6 … it’s that time boys and girls

WEEK 6

It’s not getting better and it sure isn’t getting easier.  Teams that should win lose and teams that should lose win, sometimes over stupid penalties and wild plays and surprise injuries (not that injuries in the NFL are a surprise).  The season is bursting at the seams with underdogs upsetting things; favorites shitting the bed (sometimes their own), and plain old WTF was that moments.  Enough bitching and complaining and explaining why I can’t pick my way out of a wet paper bag … and on to Week 6.

Going in with 45-32.

Chicago over The Giants – Thursday night – got that one

Baltimore Ravens over Green Bay – this is one that can go either way

Tampa Bay Buccaneers over Philly – Freeman is gone and they do have a reasonable D – Philly has a next to nothing D – all the new guy should have to do is make a connection.

The New York Jets over Pittsburgh Steelers – the Jets might be tired after playing Monday Night and Pittsburgh should be rested after a bye last week.  I still like the Jets here and hope they’re on a roll.

Minnesota Vikings over Carolina Panthers – Took them before the Peterson tragedy and staying with them.  Not watching though because if he plays like he says he will, the cameras and media will most likely be zooming in … and I can’t bear to watch that.

Kansas City over Oakland – I think Kansas can do it.

Houston Texans over St. Louis – The trouble with this one is that St. Louis has beaten teams that aren’t that good.  Houston has lost to teams that are that good.  So who is better?  Time will tell.

Cincinnati Bengals over Buffalo – you know how I feel about Buffalo – but I also actually like Cincie here.

Cleveland Browns over Detroit – Will Megatron play for the Lions this week?  Can one man make that much difference?

Seattle Seahawks over Tennessee Titans – Seattle is just plain better at home …especially when they’re pissed at losing last week.

Denver Broncos over Jacksonville Jaguars – with an epic (and historic) spread (Denver -28.5) they should just skip the game.  Stranger things have happened… but not usually at Mile High Stadium.

New Orleans over New England – went back and forth on this one.  New Orleans is due for a loss but will it be at the hands of the Patriots?

San Francisco 49rs over Arizona Cardinals – San Fran @ home shouldn’t have a problem with this match up.  It only takes one point to win.

Dallas Cowboys over Washington – Washington is rested after a bye and Dallas may still be recovering from their battle with Denver last week.  However the look on owner Jones’ face as his team lost makes me think that whatever meetings occurred over the last few days between players and management would leave the impression that it better not happen again … tired or not.

Indianapolis Colts over San Diego Chargers – these two are fairly well matched in the “points for” department.  Indy has allowed 50 (or so, math is not my strong point) less points and they can bring it to the other teams home field.  So Indy it is.

WEEK 1 …it’s a crapshoot but let’s go anyway

Wow — Thursday — Denver finished that one off …

Week 1 is a crapshoot — Any Given Sunday means any thing can happen — and I’m not cooking or cleaning or doing anything that’s going to get in my watching way …. and you can wash your own underpants as well.

Picks in bold

I did take Denver — how could you not?

New England @ Buffalo — I despise …no I loathe Buffalo

Seattle @ Carolina — The Seahawks screw me over regularly but not as much as Buffalo

Cincie @ Chicago — who knows? but that sweet and salty Chi-Town popcorn is good

Miami @ Cleveland — without Ricky Williams … hey I liked him.  But he’s gone.

Minnesota @ Detroit — I’m not sure Detroit’s young QB and Megatron or whatever his nickname is have got it going on again just yet.

Oakland @ Indy — no brainer …. I think with my brain that it’s a no brainer.  My brain might be wrong.

KC @ Jax — two crap teams by all accounts — this is dangerous overall — AKA crapshoot

Atlanta @ New Orleans — this one gave me pause to consider at length — when in doubt go home team

Tampa @ the Jets — The Jets, things that make you go …hmmm

Tennessee @ Pitts — who wants it more.  No. Who really really wants it more.  Beat @ home Week 1.  Pittsburgh wouldn’t like that.

Gbay @ San Fran — Big Colin fan — let’s hope he doesn’t disappoint.

Arizona @ St. Louis — Arizona just because I had to pick someone.

Giants @ Dallas — I just don’t like Dallas and Romo

Philly @ Washington — Now I do like RG111 — (his new sock line is a little f’d up though), I like both teams but will the knee stand the test of time?

Houston @ San Diego — Closing with Houston because it’s my right to do so.

This two Monday nighters is going to make me have to take a nap on Tuesday — Women have shit to do during the day.

As they say — know you’re limit and bet with in it — I’m telling you what I’m picking — not what you should pick.  That’s on you.  Be responsible.
